BIOGRAPHY Dwight Smith, lecturer and professional artist is from Detroit, Michigan. Received a B.F.A and M.A. in painting from Wayne State University and an M.F.A. from the Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University, Cambridge, MA. A painter, he has exhibited extensively throughout the country with exhibitions in Europe and Africa.
As an exhibition curator, he has developed over forty-five exhibitions, many of which have toured several countries and is the current director of the universities Rosenthal Art Gallery that exhibits local, national and international works of art.
His work can be found in many public and private collections including the Cape Fear Hospital of Fayetteville, The Charles Wright Museum of African American History, The Mott Foundation Collection of African American Art, Flint, Michigan, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Michigan Corporate Art Collection, Osaka City Hall, Osaka, Japan, Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, New York Public Library, New York, NY, Scripps College Museum, K Pomona, CA, Northwestern University Black Studies Library Collection, Evanston, IL, |
